Description
The Barbour International Original Waxed Jacket is a heavyweight 8oz sylkoil waxed cotton belted jacket with a heritage that dates back to 1936, this incredible garment, the forerunner of the WW2 Barbour Submarine suit serves to prove the unrivalled effectiveness of Wax Cotton protection. Those who wear them swear by them.
Heavyweight Wax Cotton and pure Cotton lining provide ultimate weather-beating versatility, while all the features of the Barbour International Jacket are there for a purpose. The lightweight cotton lining carries the signature Barbour tartan and is studded to take the optional Warm Pile Lining, for added versatility.
The slanted map pocket on the International range has derived from Barbour's rich heritage. It was designed for practical purposes, as are other features on the jacket such as the buckle-fastening throat strap, adjustable studded cuffs, a stiffened waist belt and the trademark four studded pockets, to allow the wearer ease of access.

Care

- How to re-proof your wax product, using Barbour Thornproof Wax Dressing:
- 1.You require a pan of hot water and soft cloth or sponge
- 2. Choose a warm room or outside on a hot day
- 3. Stand the tin in hot water to soften dressing
- 4. Work the dressing well into the garment using the cloth or sponge
- 5. Pay attention to seams, creases and dry patches
- 6. Rub in well, don't just paint on
- 7. Do not use excess dressing
- 8. For a 'factory' finish, blow evenly with a hairdryer
- 9. Hang the garment overnight in a warm place
- Never use hot water, detergents, solvents or soap
- Do not dry clean or machine wash

Hi has this reinforced shoulders, waterproof membrane and facilities to fit body armour?

We can confirm that this jacket does not have reinforced shoulders or a waterproof membrane. However, as this jacket is waxed with a thornproof dressing it is highly weatherproof and its weatherproofing can be maintained through re-waxing.

Hi I find the Barbour men’s jacket sizing confusing.....does a 52 mean a 52 inch chest for example the Barbour international classic
If you are looking at the UK and USA measurements for XXXL
Then it would be 52 inches for the chest measurements.

Can jacket be ordered without flag emblem

We can confirm that there are 2 style of jackets that do look quite similar. The style without the Union Jack flag is the Original Wax jacket, Product Code: 000326 / MWX0004. The style that features the flag is the Union Wax jacket - Product Code: 003159 / MWX0068.

Compatible with warm pile snap in liner but not compatible with any hoods

Can be wear in rain ?

We can confirm that this jacket can be worn in the rain and even though it is not waterproof, by following the care instructions, i.e. reproofing the jacket when necessary it will retain its water repellent properties.

hi, I am interested in purchasing a MWX0004. I would like if you can advise me which number is the right one for me. The usual size I wear in Barbour is XL whereas in Bedale - Beaufort Wax Jacket it is size 42. if I buy this will size 42 be the right ?
Hi I had previously owned a Barbour Duke which was a large and although marginally short on the arms the body fit was perfect
But when I bought my International and the sizes did not run in small medium large X-Large ect I had to compare using the sizing chart so I ordered a 44 as it was closet in size comparison to my old Duke however it turned out to be a bit to roomy so I went down a size to a 42 and it fits perfect but it really is a personal thing you might have to buy both then send back one after you have tried at home their refund process is very good

Hi, Can you clarify if the Sage, original international jacket comes with the brass buckles for the belt and neck strap. I’ve seen places showing the black buckles as well. Really prefer the brass and want to be sure if I order this is what I’ll get.
